Leading with intuition

By Stephane Leblanc, Founder and CEO, International Centre for Conscious Leadership

As soon as we started school when we were young, we were taught to live and make decisions with our brain and this is the way most of us have led our lives since then.

Einstein said: The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind a loyal servant. We have honoured the servant and forgotten the gift.

In my 30 years of experience as a senior executive in large international companies, I saw that most of our time was spent on rational thinking and rational discussions and there was very little time left for intuition.

I remember one time when my President would insist I bring a powerpoint presentation to all our one on one meetings and would get upset if I did not. In his view, we could not have a discussion without a powerpoint.

Most of the time in leadership, we are asked to leave our emotions at home as there is no room for feelings in decision making., especially not in business. This might be a serious way of doing business, but it makes us forget that we have other intelligence besides the one in the brain as we also have heart and body intelligence.

As I left the traditional corporate world and became a social entrepreneur, I learned to trust my intuition a lot more as most of my transformation work is based on the heart.

One key aspect of our work is to create transformational events for leaders to feel safe to be their true selves and transform into conscious leaders. One of the most critical parts of my work is to select speakers for our events. We get a lot of proposal from potential speakers and I always listen to my intuition when making my choices.

It is not so much about the speakers credential and her notoriety as it is about her commitment to be in service of growth and transformation of the conference attendees. When it is time to make the choices, I always listen to my heart and how I feel about the person. In the past, I did not always listen to my intuition I learned a lot as some speakers I chose did not match the intention for the event.

Last week, we held our first conscious leadership summit for women and it was truly a masterpiece. Everything was totally aligned to the intention of the event which is to support the rise of feminine leadership in all women and men so we can live in a balanced society. Every speaker spoke form the heart and was authentic and vulnerable and based on the feedback from the participants, we achieved our mission.

As my life mission to elevate consciousness in organizations is driven from my heart, leading with intuition is now a way of being for me as I know my heart always leads me in the right direction and brings the right people in my life to help me with my mission. I am leading with intuition.

As you ready to lead with intuition?
